What this application does

Sharp Promo is a promotional products distributor. Our suppliers produce product videos and give us written permission to reuse them when selling their products to our clients.

The Sharp Promo Video Relay automates that reuse. It:

monitors the public YouTube channels of suppliers who have authorized us to republish their content;
downloads newly published product videos from those authorized channels;
uploads them to Sharp Promo’s own YouTube channel, with titles and descriptions written for our customers;
records which supplier part number each video corresponds to, so that a Sharp Promo quote, estimate, or sales order can display the right product video to the customer viewing it;
removes videos from our channel when our staff decide a video should no longer be published.

Who uses it

Only Sharp Promo staff. The application has no public sign-up and no consumer accounts; its dashboard is password protected. It connects to exactly one Google account — Sharp Promo’s own — and acts only on the Sharp Promo YouTube channel. It never accesses any other person’s YouTube data.

Why it needs YouTube access

Uploading a video to our channel, confirming that the upload finished processing, and deleting a video we published all require authenticated access to our own channel through the YouTube Data API. That is the entire reason the application requests the https://www.googleapis.com/auth/youtube scope. Details of what is stored and for how long are in our Privacy Policy.
